George Harrison – Wonderwall Music (LP 1968)

Genre : Psychedelic Rock, Avantgarde, Experimental, Indian Classical Music, OST.

“ Wonderwall Music ” is the debut studio album by singer, musician and songwriter George Harrison , released on November 1, 1968. The album is the soundtrack to the film “Wonderwall”. The songs are almost all instrumental, with the exception of some with vocals. The songs were recorded in December 1967, in England, and in January 1968 in Bombay, India. “Wonderwall Music” is notable for being the first official solo album by one of the members of the Beatles.
Some of the musicians' credits are pseudonyms for Harrison, Eric Clapton who appears as Eddie Clayton and Ringo Starr as Richie Snare. Peter Tork of the Monkees also played banjo, but was uncredited. All tracks were composed by Harrison. It was also the first album on the newly formed Apple Records label, released a few weeks before “Album Branco”. The LP reached several charts between 1968 and 1969, on the Billboard Top LPs at number 49, on the US Cash Box Top 100 Albums at number 39, US Record World Top LPs at number 33, Canadian RPM Top 50 Albums at number 39 and on West German Musikmarkt LP Hit-Parade, at no. 22.

George Harrison , was a British rock guitarist, singer, songwriter and film producer (born February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England/United Kingdom - died November 29, 2001 in Los Angeles, California, USA), having stayed best known as guitarist for the Beatles. In the mid-1960s, George became an admirer of Indian culture and mysticism, introducing it to the other Beatles. In 1968, he traveled with the rest of the group to Rishikesh, in northern India, to study meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He embraced the Hare Krishna tradition, particularly japa-yoga chanting with beads, and became a lifelong devotee. He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 (Performer). In June 1965, Harrison and the other Beatles were named Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In 1988, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Fab Four. George was posthumously honored with the 2,382nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 14, 2009.
