“ Eric Carmen ” is the self-titled album by American soft rock musician, singer and composer Eric Carmen , released in November 1975, through Arista Records. This is also the first of two self-titled albums, the other being released in 1984. The studio album we present here was recorded at ODO Sound Studios, in New York, between August and September 1975. It can be found at position 21 on the album stop. On Billboard, in the highest position of his career, he released the second pop single "All by Myself" this year. The song appears first at the Cashbox and Record World stops. The album also included two subsequent Top 40 hits, "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" (#11) and "Sunrise" (#34), both in 1976. All songs were written by Eric Carmen, except for the song "On Broadway" two Drifters, which was written by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. This LP also contains Carmen's original song from "That's Rock and Roll". This album was the first solo production by Eric after leaving the group Raspberries, a “power pop” band that performed with several successes or Top 40, not starting in the 70s.
Eric Carmen (Eric Howard Carmen) born on August 11, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio / USA, died on March 11, 2024, was an American singer, composer, guitarist and keyboardist. Eric achieved several successes in the 70s and 80s, first as a member of the band Raspberries and later during his solo career. He was a silent singer for New York and joined the Raspberries band. Throughout the 70s, the group achieved various successes. Eric Carmen was the vocalist and main composer of the band and stood out for mixing elements of classic rock with pop melodies. The Raspberries separated in 1975 and, that year, Eric began his career alone, with the album “Eric Carmen”, which contained two major successes in his career, “All by Myself”. The music turned into a romantic classic and was recorded by various artists. He also gives his solo career, the musician also writes songs for other artists, such as the ballad “Almost Paradise” for the film “Footloose”. His music was influenced by classical composers, such as Rachmaninoff and Chopin, and by pop icons, such as the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Eric Carmen was considered one of the two greatest names in “power pop” and one of the two most respected composers in the music industry.
