The Mirettes were an American female vocal trio, formed in 1966 by Vanetta Fields, Jessie Smith and Robbie Montgomery, also known as The Ikettes. In 1962, still as Ikettes (they served as a vocal group in support of Ike and Tina Turner), they had already achieved some success with the song “I’m Blue” (The Gong Gong Song), by ATCO Records. Later, on Modern Records, between 1964 and 1965, they achieved a few more hits, such as “Peaches N’ Cream” or “I’m So Thankful“. The trio continued their activities as The Ikettes (as second line voices), between 1964 and 1966, providing vocal support to the duo Ike and Tina Turner. In 1966, after the split of that duo, the three backing voices of the Ikettes, Venetta Fields and her colleagues, Jessie Smith and Robbie Montgomery, constituted a new group that came to be called The Mirettes, maintaining its activity between 1966
and 1970 During this period, they released numerous singles and in 1969, the LP “Whirlpool”. They broke up in 1971.In the LP that we present here, we highlight the following songs: Keep On Running, Tweedlee Dee, To Love Somebody and In The Midnight Hour.
