Twist and Shout, V/A (12 Atlantic Tracks Produced By Phil Spector)

Twist and Shout, V/A (12 Atlantic Tracks Produced By Phil Spector).
Genre: Pop/Rock, Soul.

John Lennon and Phil Spector in the studio recording the song "Imagine".

“ Twist and Shout ” is a compilation that brings together the first works released in 1961, through the Atlantic-Atco / New York label, produced by Phil Spector , at the time he became famous as a pop music producer. The highlight is the original version by the group The Top Notes of the song "Twist and Shout", a theme made famous by the group The Isley Brothers (and later by the Beatles) and the splendid ballad "Always Late" which was on the back of this single. Other tracks include LaVern Baker's original version of "Hey, Memphis" based on Elvis Presley's "Little Sister", and black jazz singer Jean DuShon's "Tired of Trying", plus other R'n' numbers. B.

Teddy Bears with Phil Spector.

One of the best-known songs is " Twist and Shout ", composed as a result of the Twist dance, which was in vogue in the early 1960s. The Beatles' 1963 recording became famous, but this is not the original version. The band The Top Notes was an R&B group formed around 1950. In 1952 they recorded their first song "For Love of All", which became known only in Philadelphia, the region where the band had been founded. In 1960, The Top Notes were signed to Atlantic Records and most of the singles were produced by Phil Spector. Only in 1963, the version of "Twist And Shout", by the Beatles, was released, with an introduction similar to that of the recording of "La Bamba", by Ritchie Valens.
