“ Twist & Shout ” is the second studio album by the American group The Isley Brothers , recorded in 1962 at Bell Sound studio, in New York/USA and released on April 15 of the same year, through the Wand Records label. The LP was released with the success of the title track, which would later become a hit for the Beatles. In 1962, the trio's upbeat version of "Twist & Shout" remained on the Billboard pop chart for 11 weeks. From the album we also highlight the song "Right Now". The LP peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart.
The Isley Brothers is an American soul and r&b band originating from Cincinnati, Ohio/USA, who began their career as a vocal trio composed of brothers O'Kelly Isley, Jr., Rudolph Isley and Ronald Isley. The group has been cited as having enjoyed one of the "longest, most influential and most diverse careers in the popular music pantheon". Alongside a fourth brother, Vernon, the group played gospel music until Vernon's death a few years after its formation. The group began recording in the late 50s and continued to be successful in the 60s and 70s with songs ranging from R&B, to soul and funk. In the 1950s, The Isley Brothers had modest chart success during their early years. Their first big success, in 1959, was with their fourth single, "Shout", written by the three brothers. The group then recorded the top 20 single, "Twist and Shout", followed by other hits. The Isley Brothers have continued to perform and record to this day. In 1992, the Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received a Grammy for lifetime achievement in 2014.
