“ The Crests Sing All Biggies ” is the first album by the American group The Crests , released in 1960 on the Coed Records label. This LP was made famous by the 50s classic, “Sixteen Candles”.
The Crests are an American multiracial doo-wop group formed by bassist JT Carter in 1954. The group had several Top 40 hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s on the Coed Records label. His most famous song was "16 Candles" which reached second place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1959, selling more than a million copies and earning a gold record. The Crests were inducted into the United in Group Harmony Association (UGHA) Hall of Fame in 2000 and four years later were inducted into the Group Vocal Hall of Fame. The collective was also included in The Doo Wop Hall of Fame (2008) and the Doo Wop Music Hall of Fame (2015). With changes to its initial formation, the group was active from 1954 to 1978 and from 1980 to the present.
