Jay And The Americans - She Cried (LP 1962)

Jay And The Americans - She Cried (LP United Artists UAL 3222, 1962).

Jay and The Americans were an American pop/rock music and ballad group from the 1960s. Their initial lineup consisted of John "Jay" Traynor, Howard Kane, Kenny Vance and Sandy Deanne, although their greatest success on the charts was coming after Traynor was replaced as lead singer by Jay Black.
In the late 1950s, the band was discovered during screenings for students at New York University. It was the composers Leiber and Stoller who gave the group its name. His first success occurred in 1962, with the song Ela she Cried , which reached fifth position on the American hit parade.
Two other singles that followed were not as successful as expected and after internal conflicts, vocalist John Traynor left the group. They returned to the charts in 1963 with the song Only in América, which was originally intended for the group The Drifters. In 1964 and 1965, success continued with the songs Come a Little Bit Closer and Cara Mia.
Later, the group's members embarked on a solo career and in 1990 they came together for special performances, mainly to celebrate 45 years of the Motown record label.
The group was especially active between 1960 and 1973 and later between 2006 and the present.
