“ Fairytale ” is the second studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan , recorded in September 1965 at Peer Music studio, Denmark Street, in London and originally released in the United Kingdom on October 22 of that year by Pye Records. The American version of Fairytale was released by Hickory Records in November 1965 with a slightly different set of songs. The album finds Donovan evolving his style towards British folk, especially on songs such as "Summer Day Reflection Song", "Jersey Thursday" and "Sunny Goodge Street".
Donovan Phillips Leitch (born May 10, 1946 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist, having developed an eclectic and distinct style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia, among others. Emerging from the British folk scene, Donovan rose to fame in the United Kingdom in early 1965 with live performances on the pop TV series "Ready Steady Go!."
